Astronomer

Data orchestration at enterprise scale: built on Apache Airflow, managed for production.

Apache Airflow is widely used to schedule and orchestrate the pipelines that feed analytics, applications and AI. Running it yourself is another matter. Astronomer is the company behind Astro, a fully managed platform for Airflow that takes on the infrastructure, upgrades and support, so your teams can focus on the pipelines rather than the platform keeping them running.

Astronomer and Apache Airflow

Airflow you can rely on

Running open-source Airflow leaves your team responsible for upgrades, patches and fixes. Astro takes that on, with enterprise support, regular security updates and in-place upgrades and rollback, so a new Airflow version doesn’t turn into a project. Still on Airflow 2? It stopped receiving open-source patches in April 2026, and Astro keeps it supported through April 2027 while you plan the move to Airflow 3.

Less time running Airflow, more time building

Astro handles the infrastructure, scaling and monitoring. Your teams keep the DAGs and Python they already know. If you already pay for a cloud provider’s managed Airflow, moving to Astro adds the enterprise tooling and support around it.

Run it where your data lives

Astro runs fully hosted across the major clouds. Astro Private Cloud brings the same platform into your own environment, and remote execution keeps tasks running inside dedicated or regulated environments when data can’t leave them.

Orchestration ready for AI

AI and analytics depend on pipelines that run on time, in the right order, with clear visibility when something fails. Airflow coordinates every step, from ingestion to model training to reporting. Through Astronomer with IBM, it connects with IBM’s data integration portfolio, including watsonx.data integration, and pairs naturally with Confluent for real-time streaming.

Airflow Optimisation Assessment

Airflow keeps running long after it stops being supported.

Open-source Airflow 2 reached end of life on 22 April 2026, with no more security patches, bug fixes or provider updates. Add scheduler strain, fragile DAGs and credentials in the wrong place, and risk builds quietly.

Our Airflow Optimisation Assessment is a structured, read-only review of open-source Airflow, Amazon MWAA, Google Cloud Composer or self-managed deployments, delivered with Astronomer. You get the risks to fix now, in priority order, and a clear upgrade path, whether that means tuning what you have, moving to Airflow 3, or moving to Astro.

Astronomer in action

For organisations already running Airflow, whether open source or a cloud provider’s managed service, Astronomer offers a supported, production-grade path forward. We start with your existing estate: what you run, where it runs and what depends on it. Then we plan the upgrade or move with you, working with Astronomer and IBM, and often with Confluent for real-time data.
