Welcome to The Data Download, our monthly roundup of insight, activity, and upcoming events from Dot Group.
As 2026 gets underway, one message keeps surfacing across sustainability, security, and infrastructure conversations: organisations need data they can trust. Measurement is no longer a reporting afterthought. It is shaping how systems are designed, secured, and operated.

Where Measurement Meets Pro AV
ISE brings no shortage of sustainability messaging. What’s harder to find is evidence.
As Pro AV and broadcast continue to converge, AV teams are being asked to justify decisions around infrastructure, energy use, and cost with real data.
Lee Otterway and Fraser Jardine will be at ISE (Integrated Systems Europe) in Barcelona from 3 to 6 February, showing how sustainability baselines can be established using live operational data rather than estimates with GreenDot.
Come and find us on Stand CS531, Hall 7.

Why Visibility Now Defines Security
How do you secure an environment that never really stands still?
That question has come up again and again in recent conversations, and it’s what we explored in our latest contributions to NCS NewscastStudio’s Industry Insights series. We shared our thoughts on today’s broadcast cybersecurity vulnerabilities, why audits on their own don’t reflect how live environments actually operate, and the trends shaping media production in 2026.

One Conversation Can Change the Picture
This month we visited Hamburg Open, and it reinforced how valuable focused conversations can be. Discussions quickly moved beyond tools to more fundamental questions about how data actually moves through organisations, and where blind spots still exist.
Often, it only takes a single measurement point to reveal inefficiencies in energy use, file movement, or system behaviour that had previously gone unnoticed.
If that sounds familiar, we’re always happy to continue the conversation.
Setting the Baseline for 2026
January conversations have a habit of revealing where the year is heading. Across recent events and industry discussions, one thing is becoming clear: organisations are under growing pressure to justify decisions with evidence, not assumptions.
If you’re heading to ISE, we’d love to continue these conversations in person. We will be on Stand CS531 throughout the show, sharing how establishing a trusted baseline can change how organisations approach both sustainability and operations.
And if you’re not making it to Barcelona, we’re always happy to pick up the conversation another way.
